Note: For advertisers targeting users with iOS app retargeting campaigns, a scheme must be registered in the app so that an advertising campaign can launch the app. To learn more about custom URL schemes in iOS, see the developer.apple.com page on Scheme Editing Help (external link).
Step 1. Open Xcode and select your project.
Open Xcode and open your project or select it from the left-hand side of the window.
Step 2. Select your target and select the “Info” tab.
Step 3. Click the + button found in the bottom-right-hand corner of the screen, and select “Add URL Type”.
Step 4. Click on the “Untitled” URL scheme to edit it.
Step 5. Enter your URL scheme into the “URL Schemes” field.
A good URL scheme would be the name of your app with no special characters or spaces.
Note: You can also name your new scheme title by editing the field “Identifier”.
Congratulations! You’ve now set up your app with a scheme. To test, complete the following steps:
Step 1. Compile.
Compile and run on your device.
Step 2. Enter your URL scheme.
Open Safari and enter your URL Scheme followed by “://”, (ex. sampleapp:// ) into the address field.
Step 3. Check to see if the URL scheme is set up correctly.
If everything is setup correctly, your application should open.
Note: Once you have set up you app and tested successfully, please distribute the URL scheme to your Millennial Media sales representative.
